Wedding Cakes – The Experience

Kent Wedding Cakes

Planning a wedding can be daunting, but our aim is to make your Wedding cake a completely stress free process.

Step 1: Get in Touch

The first step is to check on availability. We would recommend checking in with Julie at least 6 months ahead of your wedding date (although she is taking bookings for the next year too, so it’s never too early!), either via email or via the contact enquiry form. At that point, Julie will contact you to scope out some some key pieces of information such as venue, number of guests and an idea on budget. Based on this information we can discuss a rough quotation for your cake.

Step 2: Secure the Date

If you’d like to go ahead with Julie creation your luxurious, stylish wedding cake, a booking fee of £100 is required in order to secure your wedding date in her diary. For design led, fondant cakes, the next step is to arrange an in-person consultation, where you can discuss your design and flavour combinations in more detail. You can talk all about your loves and hates too, so that your perfect cake can be designed for you.

If you’re dreaming in buttercream then we can skip straight to the delicious task of choosing your flavours. You’ll receive a taster box in the post to help you make your decision, an email consultation to discuss design, and then it’s time to head to step 4: The Final Touches.

(If you’re not ready to book and would like to taste some samples before you decide, a sample box costs £30, your samples can be collected from the studio in Broadstairs, or can be posted to you for an extra non-refundable fee of £5)

Step 3: Designing your dream cake

This is where you get to discuss your dream cake, either in person at the studio in Broadstairs or via a zoom call (whatever is more convenient for you both). During this consultation time you will go through themes, colours, styles and design ideas that you’re particularly drawn to. If you have seen any inspiration pictures then feel free to bring them along.

On the day you will get to try a selection of delicious cakes, and you will go through everything you’ve already told Julie and she will start to refine the design of your cake with you, she will advise on techniques and styles that she thinks will work well for your day. She will also go through cake styling and how you can make sure on the day that your cake is shown off to it’s absolute best. At this point you can also discuss favours or other deserts you may want to offer your guests. After your consultation, you’ll receive digital sketches of your cake, to help you visualise what it will look like, and then you get to choose which design you love the most.

Step 4: Final Touches

Once all the decisions have been made and your cake design is finalised, you will receive an order form with everything you have discussed for you to check and approve. The final balance for your wedding cake is due four weeks before your wedding date.

Step 5: Your Big Day

Julie will liase with your venue prior to your big day, and on the morning of your wedding, will deliver your finished cake and set it up and style the table as per what you’ve agreed, working alongside your florists, wedding planner or venue contact. You can be safe in the knowledge that your cake is in safe hands, and you can relax and enjoy your big day!
